My problem is simpler. I don't need it for photos. I loved the greeting cards. Thought they had the best of any software bundle - even better than Hallmark. I wish MS had come up with a replacement for that.

I have Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum 2001. I can't acccess it for some reason. When I try to start a project or access an old project it just shuts down. I would like to upgrade it or fix it somehow. What are my options?

Try downloading this from this site and see what it says. It's disappointing.

I use Microsoft PictureIt Publishing 2001, the version for printing documents as well as editing images, for nearly all of my printing. It's maddening that Microsoft just abandoned this software. I've not been able to get it to run on anything newer than XP. Microsoft has (or had) a free, downloadable XP Emulator for Win7. It will only run in a virtual mode on 7Pro or 7Ult. Unfortunately, I've not been able to get PIP2001 to run on 7Pro, even w/ the emulator (and after spending $180 to upgrade to 7Pro). Additionally, if you saved images in the .MIX format, it's nearly impossible to recover them in any other software.
